    Arohanui School is a large progressive special school based in West Auckland. We cater for students aged 5 to 21 years with intellectual and associated disabilities. 50% of our students have a diagnosis of autism. Our students are educated in a range of settings including base school, satellite classes and our community-based centre for post-18 year olds.

    At Arohanui we view each student as a unique learner. The Arohanui School Curriculum focuses on supporting each student to develop the skills they need to be an effective communicator, to be as independent as possible through their lives and to reach their potential in all areas.

    We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate educator who values collaboration and team work, and can build quality relationships with students. You may not have experience in specialist teaching approaches but you will need to have an ‘inquiry’ mind set, be open to learning and be able to help our learners reach their potential through personalised learning approaches.

  • Outreach Teacher SDA +1 MU

    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced special educator working with ORS students in their mainstream classes. You will have excellent people skills, a sense of humour and be able to form learning-focused relationships across mainstream schools. The successful applicant will demonstrate a good grasp of specialist teaching approaches. You will be part of an experienced and supportive group of special needs educators who form our large outreach team. Arohanui also has a strong commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.

  • Teacher Aide Relievers

We are looking for reliable, energetic people who love working with children and young people with special needs and supporting their learning programmes. 

Our students are aged 5 to 21 years and our school is spread across West Auckland with a base school and satellite classes in 10 mainstream schools. 

The position is as a relieving teacher aide, working on-call when other teacher aides are absent, in various classes with a range of student needs. A driver's licence is essential.
